Rep. Baumgartner Announces Committee and Subcommittee Assignments
WASHINGTON– Rep. Michael Baumgartner (WA-05) announces his appointment to the House Committee on Education and Workforce, the House Judiciary Committee, and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
“These critical positions will allow me to have a hand in shaping U.S. domestic and foreign policy and will enable me to effectively address the needs of our community and secure a brighter future for Eastern Washington and the nation,” said Rep. Baumgartner.
Within the Committee on Education and Workforce, he will serve as Vice Chair to Rep. Burgess Owens (UT-04) on the Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development, and will also serve on the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions.
“I’m excited to work alongside Rep. Burgess Owens as Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development," said Rep. Baumgartner. "In particular, I look forward to using this position to address policies that promote common-sense reforms in college athletics. We need to ensure that student-athletes at schools like WSU and EWU continue to have the opportunity to compete at the highest levels. Rep. Owens' strong leadership and unwavering commitment to improving education and workforce opportunities will be invaluable as we work together to create better futures for students and workers across the country.”
“Congressman Baumgartner is a powerful addition to our team as Vice Chair of the Higher Education and Workforce Development Subcommittee,” said Rep. Owens. “Together, we will tear down the bureaucratic systems that have failed our students and workers, hold institutions accountable for their failures, and demand that campuses focus on real education, not ideological indoctrination. Working with President Trump’s America First administration, our House Education and Workforce Committee is uniquely positioned to deliver intergenerational change for every American in every ZIP code.”
Additionally, within the Judiciary Committee, Rep. Baumgartner will serve on the Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet, as well as the Subcommittee on Administrative State, Regulatory Reform, and Antitrust.
The Committee on Foreign Affairs has not yet announced subcommittee assignments.
