Baumgartner: Now It's Time To Get Government Working Again And Put Everyday Americans First
WASHINGTON- Congressman Michael Baumgartner (WA-05) issued the following statement on the final passage of the continuing resolution (CR) ending the government shutdown.
"The Democrat’s decision to shut down the government was a monumental waste of time that hurt a lot of people. I’m relieved that this pointless DC drama is finally over and families across Eastern Washington can breathe a sigh of relief,” said Congressman Baumgartner. “Instead of playing political games that threatened paychecks, benefits for the most needy, and the livelihoods of hardworking Americans, we should have focused on practical solutions from the beginning. I thank the Democrat Senators who were willing to work across the aisle to end this needless shutdown and put country over party. Now it’s time to get government working again and put everyday Americans first."
Congressman Baumgartner voted in favor of the Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the government through January 30, 2026. The measure includes full-year funding for Agriculture, FDA, Military Construction, and Legislative Branch Appropriations—delivering key victories for Eastern Washington. His vote secures funding for the following local projects under the Agriculture Appropriations Bill:
- $1,000,000 to support Washington State University’s ARS Building Furnishings Project
- $2,000,000 for NEW Health Programs Association’s Chewelah Expansion and Regional Workforce Development Center
- $1,000,000 for TriState Health’s Family Medicine Residency Project

- $9,500,000 to support Construction of a mission support facility at Fairchild Air Force Base
- $3,600,000 to correct deficiencies that impact hydrant fueling capability and aircraft generation that support the KC-135 at Fairchild Air Force Base
