Baumgartner Issues Statement on the Passage of the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2025
WASHINGTON- Congressman Michael Baumgartner (WA-5) issued the following statement following the passage of the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2025.
“The passing of this Continuing Resolution keeps the government open, supports Americans, and shows that House Democrats were ready to push for a shutdown simply to oppose the President,” said Congressman Baumgartner. “This bill ensures that funding is maintained and the services that matter most continue, including critical increases for national security, veterans' healthcare, and air traffic control—all without asking taxpayers to pay more. This bill prevents a government shutdown and ensures these programs remain operational.”
Baumgartner continued, “Funding the government is a constitutional duty of Congress, and I am proud to join my fellow House Republicans in a unified effort to fulfill this essential responsibility,” Baumgartner continued. “While continuing resolutions aren’t ideal, this one guarantees that our government can keep doing its job for the American people.”
Background
The Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2025 ensures government funding through the end of the fiscal year, lasting until September.
This bill will:
- Reduce overall spending while ensuring full funding for essential government services.
- Maintain government operations without increasing the financial burden on taxpayers.
- Uphold our commitment to veterans by fully funding their healthcare services and benefits.
- Protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid recipients from the disruptions a government shutdown would cause.
