We’ve already had enough problems with arsonists setting forest fires. We don’t need them financially incentivized by betting markets. My bill would shut down this dangerous loophole.🇺🇸
I was pleased to join officials across Spokane this afternoon in a press conference at Balboa Elementary where Innovia CEO Shelly O'Quinn announced the establishment of the Karen Worthy Memorial Wildfire Grant, funded by a personal donation from Mr. Walt Worthy to Spokane-area communities that lost primary residences (including apartments) to the Spokane Complex fires. Grants in the amount of up to $10,000 in cash per residence will be made available to anyone who can provide documentation to validate the loss of a primary residence in the fires.
I had the opportunity to speak with Dylan and Lauren Larson who are residents of north Spokane who lost their home in the Old Trails Fire. They talked about where they're at in the recovery process and about how the community is responding to the effects of the fire.
The contribution by the Worthy family is a remarkable step toward recovery for all of the communities affected by the wildfires. A heartfelt thank you to Walt (and Karen) for their generosity.

Today, my district director spoke with emergency management personnel at the Incident Command Center at the Walla Walla Community College regarding the fires in the southern portion of our district. For those in the area please make sure you are following their account for updates on evacuation levels and up to date fire information. Paradise, Hagen and Horse Ridge Fire Information

I greatly appreciate how responsive the White House has been to the Eastern Washington fires and I’m pleased at how unified both Republican and Democrat elected leaders at the Federal, state and local level have been in working to get those impacted the help they need. Much work to do.🇺🇸Congressman Baumgartner and I sent the following letter to President Trump today.
